AIS (Automatic Identification System) - (Jotron, ICom)
AIS systems offer seamless exchange of navigational data, enabling the anticipation of hazardous situations. They automatically share static information to facilitate ship-to-ship communication and seamlessly interface with a vessel's navigational equipment, augmenting the value of the data exchanged.
Radios - (Motorola, ICom, Sailor Cobham, Jotron)
In maritime and marine applications, radios play a pivotal role as communication devices that enable voice and data transmission over radio frequencies. They are instrumental in ensuring secure and efficient communication within vessels, between vessels, and with onshore facilities.
Satellite Communications - (Iridium, Intellian, Sailor Cobham, SatService)
Satellite communications, often referred to as Satcom, harness the capabilities of satellites in Earth's orbit to facilitate voice, data, and multimedia communication across vast distances, encompassing remote and maritime regions. These systems are indispensable across various industries, offering dependable global connectivity.
Interior Communications - (DNH, Spector Lumenex, Zenitel, Saab)
In the maritime context, interior communications encompass systems and equipment tailored for communication within vessels or marine facilities. These systems are pivotal in ensuring efficient and reliable communication among crew members, passengers, and various shipboard departments or sections. At Copoint Electronics, we provide the following components:
- Intercom Systems: These systems facilitate point-to-point communication within the vessel, enabling crew members to communicate seamlessly across different ship locations, including the bridge, engine room, cabins, and other areas.
- PAGA (Public Address and General Alarm) and PAVA (Public Address and Voice Alarm) Systems: These critical communication and safety systems find application in various settings, including maritime, industrial, and public facilities. They serve a dual purpose, conveying vital information to facility occupants and delivering audible alarms during emergencies.
- Loudspeakers: Our portfolio includes explosion-proof loudspeakers meticulously designed, rigorously tested, and globally certified to deliver high performance even in potentially explosive environments. These loudspeakers are available in lightweight plastic or rugged die-cast aluminum variants.
GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) - (Jotron, Sailor Cobham)
The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) stands as a worldwide system for automated emergency signal communication for ships at sea, developed under the United Nations' International Maritime Organization (IMO) as part of the SOLAS Convention. It encompasses safety protocols, equipment types, and communication procedures crucial for the safety and rescue operations of distressed ships, boats, and aircraft. At Copoint, we offer the following GMDSS equipment:
- Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB): These automatic-activating EPIRBs, now mandatory on SOLAS ships, commercial fishing vessels, and passenger ships, transmit alerts to rescue coordination centers worldwide via satellite systems. Modern designs incorporate GPS receivers for highly accurate distress position transmission.
- NAVTEX: NAVTEX is an international automated system for instant distribution of maritime safety information (MSI), including navigational warnings, weather forecasts and warnings, search and rescue notices, and similar data to ships.
- Search and Rescue Transponder (SART): GMDSS installations on ships include one (or two on vessels over 500 GT) search-and-rescue locating device known as Search and Rescue Radar Transponders (SARTs). These devices aid in locating survival craft or distressed vessels by creating a series of twelve dots on a rescuing ship's 3 cm radar display.
- Power Supply: GMDSS equipment requires power from three sources: the ship's normal alternators/generators, the ship's emergency alternator/generator (if equipped), and a dedicated radio battery supply.
